Classroom Happenings: Sept. 5-9

Memory Verse: Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from
telling lies. Psalm 34:13

This Week:
I hope that everyone had a wonderful "extra" day off! I am excited to get back into the swing of things! This week, we will be focusing on the story of Jacob and Esau. In Spelling, we will be doing several fun activities with the different word families. Due to the shortened school week, there will be no spelling test on Friday. We will use this time to review our past two lists and prepare for next week!

Reading groups are becoming a favorite part of the day for students! They are growing as both readers and writers and I am so proud of the progress they have made already!! The students especially love our "Write the Room" activities using their clipboards. In Writer's Workshop, we will learn what to do when writing a word we don't know. Students will also be introduced to a first grade writing rubric. This rubric will serve as a tool to help students proofread their work!

In Math, we will work on dividing an object into equal parts. We will also be working on some/some more and some/some went away word problems. In Science, we will continue exploring the wonderful world of Weather! Students will have fun making a diagram of the water cycle!

Homework:
I am so proud of the time and dedication students are putting into their homework!
